LEED Credit Information

At Integrity Windows and Doors, we believe constructing buildings in ways that protect the environment and safeguard the health of those that use them is not just good business sense, it's common sense.

That’s why we’re happy to see the green building sector flourishing. Every day, more and more architects, contractors, owners and investors are specifying environmentally friendly building products and practices. They know that building green impacts more than the environment and public health; it means lower operating costs, greater marketability and increased productivity.

The U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System is an important factor in this emerging environmental awareness. Whether pertaining to new construction (LEED-NC), existing buildings (LEED-EB) or homes (LEED-H), LEED certification recognizes projects that meet stringent standards of environmental and public health excellence. While individual building components themselves are not certified, they can contribute to the points awarded to a project as a whole.

Integrity’s long-lasting and energy-efficient windows and doors can be an integral part of your project’s LEED certification. Below, you’ll find details regarding the LEED-NC credits Integrity products can help you earn. We invite you to contact us if you would like more information pertaining to your specific project or for details on certification in other LEED programs. Information can be provided regarding the following LEED-NC categories. For LEED-H applicability talk to your Integrity representative.

  • Integrity’s fiberglass Pultrusions have low embodied energy. Embodied energy is defined as "the total energy required to produce a product from the raw materials stage through delivery." Pultrusions have about 80 percent less embodied energy than aluminum and 39 percent less than vinyl.
  • Integrity’s fiberglass Pultrusions insulate against heat, cold and electricity. This saves energy and reduces life cycle cost.
  • Our product's main ingredient is glass, which is made from sand...an abundant resource.
  • Integrity’s high performance products are NFRC-certified and meet or exceed ENERGY STAR® requirements helping save on energy costs. See NFRC ratings.
  • All Integrity products are tested for compliance with WDMA Hallmark Certification testing standards.

MR Credit 2.1

Integrity products are shipped wrapped and cornered instead of fully cartoned, in order to produce less packaging waste. Most Integrity packaging material, including cardboard and plastic wrap, can be recycled.

MR Credit 4.1, 4.2

Pre-consumer material diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process:

  • Alcoa – Our major aluminum supplier currently uses 30-35% purchased scrap/recycled aluminum, of which about 25% is estimated to be post-consumer. In addition to this purchased scrap, they contribute approximately 40% more in-house scrap into melts for casting aluminum billet.
  • Cardinal uses 20% of recycled glass in their batch to make float glass products. This recycled glass is from their float glass, coated glass, tempered glass and insulating glass plants.”
  • Integrity fiberglass contains 10 percent recycled content

Window composition is estimated to be: Glass – 30-60%, Wood 30-60%, Aluminum 0-15%

EQ Credit 2

Operating windows can be incorporated in a natural ventilation system to meet requirements set forth in the Carbon Trust “Good Practice Guide 237 “[1998]. Integrity operable windows can help to satisfy this credit.

EQ Credit 4.1
Integrity's VOC levels comply with the Aerosol Adhesives guidelines as established by the LEED program. The maximum acceptable VOC levels are listed below.

Aerosol Adhesives: VOC weight [g/L minus water]
General purpose mist spray 65% VOCs by weight
General purpose web spray 55% VOCs by weight
Special purpose aerosol adhesives (all types) 70% VOCs by weight

8.1, 8.2

Our products’ high thermal efficiency means more windows in more places won’t jeopardize energy efficiency. To calculate daylight credit, go to the architectural detail manual and see the “Sizing Guidelines and Measurements Conversions” page for any window style.

Integrity products qualify for $1,500 tax credit
