Overview

Architectural & Environmental Associates (AEA) has been designing environmentally friendly homes and systems in the Flagstaff area for 26 years. AEA has achieved over 50% growth in recent years, despite the national down turn in the housing and building industries. AEA has flourished thanks to its status as an industry leader in green building and environmental systems and design, “We use cutting edge technology and our extensive experience to provide innovative and sustainable solutions that we believe are good for our clients and the environment. We are proud to stand behind the work we do,” says Carl Ramsey, president of Architectural & Environmental Associates.

AEA’s most recent project is a LEED-H Platinum home in Sedona, AZ. AEA has designed numerous buildings in accordance with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED standards and participated in the LEED-H Pilot Program. The Sedona, AZ home utilizes a 7.2 kW photovoltaic (PV) solar system, a 1.8 kW wind turbine, geo thermal radiant flooring heating and cooling system, air stratification ventilation tower system, Structural Insulated Panels (SIP) and a passive solar collection system to produce a “zero carbon house”. The home also employs a 35,000 gallon water catchment system, which in combination with a gray water system, fulfills all of the home’s water requirements. In addition, low water use plumbing fixtures, on-demand hot water, computer modeled site integration, automated environmental quality controls, paper stone counter tops, stained concrete floors, recycled glass shower panel/tiles, certified wood framing, and Integrity windows and doors combine to help this house produce over $35,000 in tax credits and zero pollution, while consuming absolutely no fossil fuels.
