2013 Red Diamond Achiever Award winner profile: Beachaus 1

Today, the Builder Blog is proud to bring you the first in a series of close looks at the winners of the 2013 Red Diamond Achiever Award Program.

Located in White Rock, British Columbia, the Beachaus project was originally designed to qualify for LEED Platinum status. The design goal of this highly contemporary home was to leave a small footprint and to be 100 percent lit by natural daylight. Twelve-foot ceilings with wall-to-wall glass give the illusion of additional space — but made it a challenge when it came to solar heat gain. Integrity’s combination of glazing options and Ultrex pultruded fiberglass helped the home meet the rigorous requirements of LEED Platinum status. Beachaus 1 was designed by Dave Debruyn of Inhaus Development, Ltd.

We love how the windows let the light stream in and give the whole house an open, airy look.
